This is a starter policy that reflects how Dorrie handles information today. It will be reviewed and finalized with legal counsel before public launch. Questions: sam@dorrie.app.

Dorrie LLC ("Dorrie," "we," "us") makes a daily companion app that helps an adult child stay connected to an aging parent. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Dorrie, you agree to this policy.

Who uses Dorrie

Dorrie has two people in each family. The account holder (typically the adult child) sets up and pays for the account. The care recipient (the parent) receives gentle daily check-ins. The account holder sets up the account on behalf of the care recipient.

Information we collect

Names of the account holder and the care recipient.
Email address of the account holder.
Phone number(s) used to send and receive text messages and, when needed, a voice call.
Daily check-in responses from the care recipient (simple taps such as "Done" or "I need help").
Medication list, if the account holder chooses to add one. This is a convenience field entered by the account holder, displayed for first responders in an emergency. It is not a medical record.
Schedule and reminder preferences set during setup.
Payment information, processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.

How we use information

To deliver the daily check-in experience and reminders.
To notify the account holder's designated contact when the care recipient indicates they need help.
To operate, secure, and improve the service.
To process payment and provide support.

Text messaging (SMS)

Dorrie uses text messaging to send account and care notifications — for example, a message to the designated contact when the care recipient indicates they need help, and confirmations related to the account. Messaging is enabled when the account holder provides a phone number and sets up the account.

Message frequency varies based on activity in the account.
Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out of further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email sam@dorrie.app.
We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing. Information shared with our messaging provider is used solely to deliver Dorrie's messages.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run Dorrie — such as our hosting and database provider, our messaging and voice provider, and our payment processor — and only as needed to provide the service. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a person.

Data security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, and we keep it only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

HIPAA

Dorrie is a consumer companion app and is designed to operate outside the scope of HIPAA. We do not bill insurance, connect to healthcare providers, or maintain clinical records. The optional medication list is a user-entered convenience field.

Your choices

The account holder can update or remove information from the account, opt out of text messages at any time, and close the account by contacting us. To request access to or deletion of your information, email sam@dorrie.app.

Children

Dorrie is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Dorrie grows. We'll post the updated version here with a new date.
